“In the Sacred Heart, every treasure of wisdom and knowledge is hidden. In that divine heart beats God’s infinite love for everyone and for each of us as individuals.” – St. John Paul II
It is with great excitement we share that renovations will begin at Sacred Heart Church this June. Through these changes, our goal is to further beautify the space by building upon the vision of the original architects and incorporating modern yet timeless elements that will add greater dignity to the liturgical environment, and in turn engage and uplift the faithful in their celebration of the sacred mysteries.
As preparations get underway, we would like to share with you what you can expect over the next seven months, and what changes will be coming to our Mass schedule due to these renovations.
During the month of May, we will begin to organize and pack up items at Sacred Heart to either go into storage during the renovation, or go to consignment or be disposed of if they are no longer of use. Please know that all blessed items will be treated with the utmost care during this process.
Before May 30, we ask that all groups that meet at Sacred Heart Church go through any items they may have stored there and remove those that they would like to keep. We will dispose of any items not removed by May 30. If you do not have the ability to store them, please contact our Parish Office for further assistance. May 30 will also be the last day that groups can meet at Sacred Heart Church.
Through the packing process, we will need volunteers to assist us. If you would like to help, please check out The Good News, our social media, and our website for opportunities in the coming weeks.
At 11:00 am on Sunday, June 15, we will celebrate our final Mass at Sacred Heart Church before renovations begin. We invite our parish community to join us as we mark the end of this chapter in Sacred Heart’s history.
From June 16 to the completion of renovations, we will follow the below schedule for Masses and programs held at Sacred Heart:
- Monday and Friday 12:00 pm Masses: St. Mary Church, 59 E. Merrill Ave., Fond du Lac
- Wednesday 6:00 pm Mass: Holy Family Church, 271 Fourth Street Way, Fond du Lac
- Saturday 4:00 pm and Sunday 9:00 and 11:00 am Masses: St. Mary Church
- Sunday 7:00 am Mass in Spanish: Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church
It is our hope that our Liturgical Ministers, Sacristans, Altar Servers, Ushers, and other volunteers who assist at these Masses will continue to serve at their temporary locations. To make this process as smooth as possible, we will reach out to Liturgical Minsters this month for an opportunity to walk through St. Mary Church and receive training specific to the site. Groups who utilize Presentation will also receive training.
Our Sacred Heart Adoration Chapel will remain open through 10:00 pm on Friday, June 20, and close with Benediction. During renovations, we will offer Adoration at Presentation, which will begin at 5:00 am on Saturday, June 21. Adoration will take place every day from 5:00 am to 10:00 pm, except for when Mass is celebrated. Beginning on Thursday, June 26, our 6:00 pm Holy Hour in Spanish and 7:00 pm Holy Hour in English usually held at Sacred Heart will take place at Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 705 Michigan Ave., North Fond du Lac
Beginning on June 20, all of our Eucharistic Ministers who serve our homebound parishioners will be asked to either pick up Holy Communion at Holy Family Church, or at Mass. We thank our ministers, and all of our volunteers, for their service to these ministries.
For those who worship regularly at Sacred Heart, we know that this will be a change. Please know of our deep appreciation for your patience, understanding, and flexibility throughout this process. Once renovations begin, please check out our Facebook and Instagram accounts, The Good News, and this website for monthly updates. We cannot wait to share the progress with you! If renovations go as planned, Sacred Heart will be ready to welcome you and your fellow parishioners in December.

Be part of our Sacred Heart Renovation in a special way
There is no campaign to raise money for this project. Thanks to our parishioners’ generosity, the cost of our project will be covered by our Love One Another funds. However, if you would like to be part of this historic renovation, we have multiple opportunities for you to donate specific items to the church. These include but are not limited to stained-glass windows, our tabernacle, and a new crucifix. Any gifts will allow us to direct as much of our Love One Another funds as possible to projects like renovations at St. Peter and our Endowment Fund. Please contact our Parish Office at (920) 921-0580 for more information. If you would like to donate to this project as a whole, please click the button below to do so.
