Skiff to depart Holy Family later this month

We are saddened to share that our High School Formation Coordinator Andrew Skiff will depart our parish later this month to take on a new position in South Bend, Indiana as Saint Anthony de Padua’s director of music and liturgy. It has been a blessing to have Andrew with us for the past three years, and we are grateful for all the work he has done within our parish, from leading the High School Formation and Confirmation programs, to directing St. Peter’s Choir. We will keep him in our prayers as he takes on this new position, and we invite you to join us in wishing him well!

15 May 2023

Dear Parishioners of Holy Family,

I hope you’re doing well.

I am writing to let you know that I will be leaving my position in Christian Formation at Holy Family, effective Friday, 26 May 2023.

I am taking a new position on June 1st in South Bend, Indiana as a full-time director of music and liturgy. Saint Anthony de Padua has been without a music director since March, and just two weeks ago a colleague of mine recommended me to the head pastor. Things developed very quickly from there, and this whole process has been quite a whirlwind for me. In the end, I made the difficult decision to accept the position. This is a dream job for me, and I am looking forward to being back in the South Bend area, near many of my friends and professional connections.

It has been an honor and privilege to coordinate Holy Family’s Confirmation Program for the past three years, building on the work of former coordinator Amanda Zinthefer and Fr. John LoCoco, and bringing families and volunteers through COVID-19 with the help of Fr. Edward and an amazing catechist team. I am grateful for your patience with me as I have worked with these same amazing volunteers and parents to develop a good, life-giving, and straightforward Confirmation program. I truly believe that things get better each year, and the holy and kind people of this parish are the reason for this. You have been supportive, flexible, and appreciative at so many moments. Thank you for all you do for this parish and to support your children in the faith; you are truly inspiring.

On 18 May 2023 I will meet with Fr. Ryan, Fr. Edward, Fr. Michael, and Sabina to discuss the ‘way forward’ for the Confirmation and high school programs. Thank you to everyone who has submitted feedback on the year; I will be sure to bring this to our meeting.

Additionally, I will meet with Fr. Michael on 23 May 2023 to discuss St. Peter’s choir for next year. It has been my sincere joy to work with the amazing choristers and instrumentalists of the St. Peter community, and I hope and pray that the good work they have been able to do these past two years can continue under the guidance of Father Michael in dialogue with Paul, Kathy, Andrea, Kaitlyn, and Ricky.

Thank you for everything. It has been a great joy and blessing for me to coordinate the Holy Family Confirmation program for these past three years. I continue to be so impressed by our parents, students, catechists, keynote speakers, priests, and staff. You are truly good people, and I am very sad to say goodbye.

May God continue to bless you in all things, and thanks for all you do to support your families in the Catholic faith. Take care.

Best,

-Andrew
