As a child, Fr. Kevin Durand attended St. Thomas Aquinas Parish in Waterford, and today credits his family with helping him to cultivate his vocation through praying the rosary as a family and talking about the beauty of our Catholic Faith. Throughout high school and college, he set his sights on starting a career and one day starting a family of his own all while feeling a call to discern the priesthood. After graduating from college, he began working in sales, but the call to priesthood did not disappear. He decided to set aside time each day to pray and attend daily Mass to help further his discernment and to ask God precisely what He was calling him to do. Through Fr. Durand’s encounters with our Lord in prayer and in the Eucharist, God spoke to Deacon Kevin’s heart and told him what he wanted him to do; be a priest in the Catholic Church.
In 2018, Fr. Durand entered St. Francis de Sales Seminary, and in 2023 was ordained a Transitional Deacon. Throughout his formation in the seminary, Fr. Durand has served at the Parishes of Holy Trinity & St. Michael in Kewaskum. In May 2024, he was ordained a priest at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Milwaukee, and after began his service at Holy Family Catholic Community.
Deacon Kevin is very happy to begin his priestly ministry at Holy Family and St. Mary’s Springs Academy. “Over the years in seminary, I’ve had the privilege to get to know each of the priests currently serving in Fond du Lac, and each of them couldn’t speak more highly of your goodness and faith. I look forward to serving you and getting to know you, and will be praying for you. Please keep me in your prayers as I prepare for ordination and beginning my life in Christ’s service as a priest,” he said.
