Changes coming to Weekly Mass Schedule, effective May 1

We would like to share with you some important updates regarding our liturgical schedule, effective May 1, 2024. These changes are being implemented after much prayer and careful consideration by the Pastoral Council. Every effort was made to ensure that our parish continues to grow spiritually and serves the needs of our community effectively. For a visual schedule of these changes, please click here. The changes are also listed below.

  • We will be introducing additional Mass times for the celebration of daily Mass in an effort to better serve our growing daily Mass population. This new Mass will take place at 7:00 am on Monday and Wednesday each week at Holy Family Church. This means that there will be a daily Mass prayed at Holy Family Monday through Friday at 7:00 am. Confessions will follow the 7:00 am Mass each day.
  • The Mass that normally takes place at St. Mary Church downtown on Monday and Wednesday will move to Sacred Heart Church. This Mass will take place every Monday and Friday instead of Monday and Wednesday, and be celebrated at noon instead of 12:10 pm. Confessions will take place before each Mass beginning at 11:15 am.
  • Because we are adding a noon Mass on Fridays at Sacred Heart, we will no longer celebrate the 9:00 am monthly First Friday Mass. Instead, we invite you to join us for the noon First Friday Mass.
  • The Wednesday 12:00 pm Mass that normally took place at St. Mary’s will now take place at Marian University. This Mass will be celebrated all year. Confession will take place prior to the Mass from 11:15 to 11:45 am.
  • Thursday evening Mass normally held at Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in North Fond du Lac will move to Sacred Heart Church. Instead of Thursday, this Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday evenings at Sacred Heart in an effort to better serve our youth and young adult groups that regularly gather at Sacred Heart on Wednesday nights. Confessions will begin at 5:00 pm with Mass at 6:00 pm.
  • A Holy Hour will be set aside in the Adoration Chapel at Sacred Heart for those who wish to come and make a holy hour and pray for families with us. This Holy Hour normally took place on Thursday evenings at Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church. Now it will take place from 7:00 to 8:00 pm in the Sacred Heart Adoration Chapel on Thursdays throughout the year.
  • A Mass will be celebrated all year long at Marian University at 5:00 pm every Sunday. This Mass will be open to the public and students as well. We will offer this Mass on a trial basis and decide after one year if the demand for an evening Sunday Mass all year long is warranted.
  • The Saturday morning Mass normally scheduled at 8:00 am at Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in North Fond du Lac will move to Holy Family Church and be celebrated every week at Holy Family. Confessions will follow the Mass.

Church Access for the Handicapped

If you have trouble walking or find it difficult to get into church please remember:

  • Holy Family and Sacred Heart Churches have no steps.
  • St. Mary Church has an outside ramp.
  • St. Peter Church has a lift.

Our ushers and greeters will be happy to assist you.

We also have hearing assistive devices available at all of sites. Ask an usher for a receiver if you have trouble hearing the Mass. There is a hearing loop at both Holy Family, Sacred Heart, St. Mary churches; those with hearing aids need only flip the “T” switch and be tuned directly into the church’s sound system. We also have receivers and headphones available, just ask an usher for assistance.

Low-gluten Hosts Available

Holy Family now has low-gluten hosts (.001% or 37 micrograms) available for parishioners who have wheat-related allergies or intolerances. If you or your child have not been receiving communion because of gluten levels in the hosts you can now request low-gluten hosts at each of our worship sites. There is no such thing as a “no-gluten” host since Church law requires that hosts used at Catholic Masses must contain some wheat. However the low-gluten hosts we are using have been approved by the Archbishop and recommended by the Catholic Celiac Society.

Some who cannot tolerate a whole host can continue to ask the Communion Minister for only half or 1/4 host at the time of reception of Communion.  Those who cannot physically tolerate even this amount of gluten can request a low gluten Host before Mass using the procedure below.

Procedure: Please stop in at the sacristy before Mass and ask the sacristan to allow you to put a low-gluten host in a special container which they will place on the altar. Please do so 15-20 minutes early since once Mass begins the sacristan no longer has access to these hosts.

The low-gluten host you have placed in the container will be consecrated by the priest at the Mass you are attending.

Reception: At Communion time, please join the line for the Priest-celebrant of the Mass. He will be holding the container of low-gluten. When you approach him, after you bow to the Blessed Sacrament, request a gluten-free host. The priest will then open the container and allow you to take the host yourself (so there is no cross-contamination with wheat) and receive communion.

Please, if you have not placed a low-gluten host in the container before Mass, do not request one. The only hosts in the container at communion time will be the ones placed in the container by the individuals who request them.
