Changes coming to Holy Family Priest Team

Dear Holy Family Catholic Community Parishioner(s),

As you know, after four years with us in the parish, Fr. Fabián Rodas will be leaving Holy Family to take on a new assignment to serve three parishes in Milwaukee. Recently, we received word that Fr. Fabián will not be going alone. As Archbishop Listecki has identified a specific pastoral need within the Archdiocese that needs to be filled and has asked for the help of the Missionary Fraternity of Mary, Fr. Alejandro Umul will also leave Holy Family next month, and go to Milwaukee to fill this role.

We, of course, are sad to see Fr. Alejandro leave after such a short period of time with us here, but we are thankful that we had the opportunity to have him as part of our parish at all. He has already contributed greatly in establishing relationships within our Hispanic community and has brought the joy of the Gospel to so many others. Fr. Alejandro’s “yes” to serve in Milwaukee on such short notice demonstrates the sheer generosity of the Missionary Fraternity of Mary community and their wiliness to put the needs of the larger church over their own. We wish him luck in this new assignment and know that he, along with Fr. Fabián, will do great work in Milwaukee.

With gratitude I am able to announce that soon after their departure, we will have two new priests joining us in the parish! Effective June 18, we will welcome Fr. Michael Malucha and transitional Deacon Pedro Ruiz to Holy Family.

The oldest of four siblings, Fr. Michael was raised in Colgate near Holy Hill and attended Marquette University High School, before entering the college seminary in Chicago. He continued his studies in Rome, as well as St. Francis de Sales Seminary. He was ordained last May, and for the past year has continued his graduate studies in theology as he served as the associate pastor of Three Holy Women Parish.

Set to be ordained into the priesthood on May 21, Deacon Pedro was born and raised in San Carlos, Venezuela along with his two siblings. From an early age, he felt called to serve the Lord, and at home, pretended to be a priest as he played. After much schooling, including at a doctoral program in Russia, he returned home to Venezuela to work at a university. However, his plans changed while on a Catholic Charismatic Renewal retreat, and he began to experience God’s love in his life. In 2016, he entered St. Francis de Sales Seminary by God’s grace. Both he and Fr. Michael are men of deep of faith and have a sincere love for the Church.

We look forward to having both Fr. Michael and Deacon Pedro with us here at Holy Family and hope that you will join us in welcoming them! You can send Fr. Michael a message at michaelm@hffdl.org and Deacon Pedro a message at pedror@hffdl.org.

In Christ,

Fr. Ryan
