An Update on our Priest Team – February 27, 2026

Dear Brothers & Sisters,

Change is an inescapable part of life. It makes itself known in small ways and in large. Sometimes we fight it, sometimes we embrace it. But whatever is before us, we know that God will be with us through it all and never lead us astray. As is written in Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Earlier this month, we shared with you that Fr. Matthew Kirk will leave us in June to take on a new assignment in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. This week, we received word from Archbishop Grob that Fr. Fernando Torres, Fr. Kevin Tanel, and Fr. Patrick Behling will also receive new assignments this June.

It has been a blessing to have Fr. Fernando, Fr. Tanel, and Fr. Behling serve our parish. Over their time here, I have watched our community grow stronger in faith. From leading our catechumens as they seek to enter the Catholic Church, to helping our engaged couples root their relationship in Christ, and strengthening our Hispanic community, Fr. Fernando, Fr. Tanel, and Fr. Behling have forged connections in our community that will endure for many years to come.

I realize that a change to our Priest Team of this magnitude is a lot to process, especially at once. Every time that a new priest comes to Holy Family, you immediately make them part of our parish family, welcoming them with warmth, care, and kindness. While this makes our parish life all the more vibrant and inviting, it also makes it harder to say goodbye. Trust me when I say just as it is difficult for our community to come to terms with this change, it is difficult for me, our Priest Team, and our staff.

I am, however, heartened by the knowledge that we will receive new priests this June. I am confident that they will follow in the footsteps of the priests who came before them and serve our parish with great love for our Lord and care for our parishioners. I look forward to sharing the news of our new priests soon, and welcoming them to Holy Family this summer.

Please join me in praying for Fr. Fernando, Fr. Tanel, Fr. Behling, and Fr. Matthew, and for the priests who will join us. Please know that you are always in our prayers.

Una actualización sobre nuestro equipo de sacerdotes

Queridos hermanos y hermanas:

El cambio es inevitable en la vida. Se manifiesta en pequeñas y grandes cosas. A veces luchamos contra él, a veces lo aceptamos. Pero sea lo que sea que nos depare el futuro, sabemos que Dios estará con nosotros en todo y nunca nos desviará del camino. Como está escrito en Jeremías 29:11: «Porque yo sé muy bien los planes que tengo para ustedes —declara el Señor—, planes de bienestar y no de calamidad, para darles un futuro y una esperanza».

A principios de este mes, les informamos que el P. Matthew Kirk nos dejará en junio para asumir una nueva asignación en la Arquidiócesis de Milwaukee. Esta semana, el Arzobispo Grob nos informó que los P. Fernando Torres, Kevin Tanel y Patrick Behling también recibirán nuevas asignaciones este junio.

Ha sido una bendición contar con el P. Fernando, el P. Tanel y el P. Behling en nuestra parroquia. Durante su tiempo aquí, he visto a nuestra comunidad fortalecerse en la fe. Desde guiar a nuestros catecúmenos en su búsqueda de entrar en la Iglesia Católica, hasta ayudar a nuestras parejas comprometidas a arraigar su relación en Cristo y fortalecer a nuestra comunidad hispana, el P. Fernando, el P. Tanel y el P. Behling han forjado vínculos en nuestra comunidad que perdurarán por muchos años.

Soy consciente de que un cambio de esta magnitud en nuestro Equipo de Sacerdotes es difícil de procesar, especialmente de una sola vez. Cada vez que un nuevo sacerdote llega a la Sagrada Familia, inmediatamente lo integran a nuestra familia parroquial, dándole una cálida bienvenida, cuidado y amabilidad. Si bien esto hace que nuestra vida parroquial sea aún más vibrante y acogedora, también hace más difícil la despedida. Créanme cuando les digo que, así como es difícil para nuestra comunidad asimilar este cambio, lo es para mí, para nuestro Equipo Sacerdotal y para nuestro personal.

Sin embargo, me alegra saber que recibiremos nuevos sacerdotes este junio. Confío en que seguirán los pasos de los sacerdotes que los precedieron y servirán a nuestra parroquia con gran amor por nuestro Señor y preocupación por nuestros feligreses. Espero compartir pronto la noticia de nuestros nuevos sacerdotes y darles la bienvenida a la Sagrada Familia este verano.

Les pido que se unan a mí en oración por los Padres; Fernando, Tanel, Behling y Matthew, y por los sacerdotes que se unirán a nosotros. Sepan que siempre están presentes en nuestras oraciones.
