I am Fr. Edward Sanchez, a priest of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee and associate pastor of Holy Family. I was born in St. Louis and lived in Florida and North Carolina before coming to Wisconsin with my family when I was 16 years old. My parents–and five of my eight siblings–now live in New Berlin. Homeschooled through high school, I graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2013, and went on to earn a master’s degree in math from the University of Illinois. Growing up, I had often thought about the priesthood, but it was at a FOCUS Conference in 2015 that I experienced God’s call to the seminary in a clear and powerful way. That May, I applied to St. Francis de Sales Seminary in Milwaukee and was accepted. During my time at the seminary, I completed my Master of Arts in Theology Studies in preparation for my ordination and completed my pastoral internship at St. Michael and St. Rose of Lima parishes in Milwaukee. On April 27, 2019, I was ordained a transitional deacon, and on May 16, 2020 was ordained to the priesthood. Raised Catholic, I benefitted from the love and example of my parents, Ed and Teri, and from the goodness and craziness of my siblings. I enjoy playing basketball, soccer, and board games, as well as praying. I am deeply grateful to Archbishop Listecki for ordaining me a priest and assigning me to this great parish. God bless.
