My name is Amanda Cords and I'm so thankful to have the opportunity to be the Elementary Formation Coordinator here at Holy Family. My journey in the Catholic faith began at Shepherd of the Hills in Eden where I completed pre-kindergarten to eighth grade. It was there that I truly felt the call to teaching. After grade school/middle school I attended St. Mary's Springs High School where I began dating my now husband and learned to be the hands and feet of Christ through works of service in the community and in school. Through interacting with my peers and teachers through my busy high school years, I learned to react love, joy, peace, kindness, and gentleness at all times. The final five years of my educational journey were spent at Marian University in Fond du Lac. It was there that I finally began to realize the sacrifices that were made and the hard work that was done by all of my past teachers and it made me truly grateful. Working close to full time hours, attending classes, and student teaching in local classrooms showed me that I was capable of much more than I realized. I kept this in the back of my mind when things became overwhelming because I knew that it would be worth it in the long run. After graduating from Marian University with my Bachelors in Education and an English/Language Arts Minor, I decided to take a leap of faith and only apply to Catholic schools. I knew in my heart that I would be happiest in a Catholic school environment because it's what I know and what I'm passionate about. My life path had led me directly to it and I needed to trust that God would help me fulfill that desire in my heart. I spoke to my husband about it and he supported me whole heartedly. I accepted a teaching position at St. Kilian Congregation in Hartford as the 6-8 Religion and History teacher. During my time at St. Kilian, my husband and I were married and had our son, Jordan. While I loved working at St. Kilian, I began praying for an opportunity for work closer to my baby. This position surfaced and I couldn't be happier! The environment is friendly, faith-filled, and supportive. I couldn't ask for a better place to spend my days.
