Repairs Completed

The restoration of the stonework at St. Mary Church has been completed. The towers required nearly complete restoration and similar exterior work was done on the rest of the church, as needed. It was decided to expand the scope of the project beyond the tower restoration because it needed to be done and the equipment was already on site. The towers were in very bad shape and presented an imminent safety hazard. The cost to restore the church was approximately $146,000. We are very grateful to two parishioners who have donated $1,100. Payment for this restoration work, net of any donations, will be made from our Contingency Funds. This project will insure a safe and solid structure for decades to come.

The demolition of the rectory on the north end of the site is complete. The cost of the demolition and fill was $39,000. The restoration work at the north end of the building is ongoing and the cost is unknown at this time. The demolition and restoration will be paid for out of the funds from the school sales. It was decided to proceed with the demolition of the rectory because the space was not needed, and required extensive interior repairs plus a new roof and heating plant. The space also required about $10,000 annually in heat, light, water, and maintenance costs that will no longer be incurred.
